This pharmaceutic was firstly prescribed for the therapy of open-angle glaucoma, and nowadays it is used in the sphere of cosmetology to treat the hypothyroidism of eyelashes.

The drops have the same structure as prostaglandins. Their precise mechanism of action has not yet been studied. Scientists suggest that the eyelashes grow due to the fact that the phase of life of the hair follicle increases and thus a lot of new and long eyelashes grow. The drops have 0.03% of Bimatoprost solution and are used locally. There are 3 ml. of the substance in one bottle. There is an applicator what makes them convenient for use. Among the additional components of the remedy there are:

• Benzalkonium chloride;
• Sodium chloride;
• Phosphate sodium;
• Citric acid;
• Distilled water.

To regulate the acidity in the drops, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid were added. The pH level is 6.8-7.8.

Safety Information

If you wear soft attachment lenses, then you should remove them before using the drops. It is possible to put contact lenses again only after 15 minutes.

Even if accurate laboratory tests have not yet been conducted, it is necessary to take into consideration the strengthening of the effect of drops in case if you take pills aimed at suppressing the nervous system. This rule also applies to alcohol, opium derivatives, general anesthetics.

The drug does not act immediately. You will be able to see the result only two months later. You should remember that the effect of the application of drops is not permanent. Once you stop using it, your eyelashes will look like they used to. Moreover, sometimes there are differences in the length of new eyelashes, their thickness, color intensity and direction of upturn If you did not use the medication in time, there is no use for increasing the dose twice. Apply the remedy at the time when you usually do it.

The drops are not recommended for pregnant women and during lactation because clinical trials regarding the effects of the drug have not been conducted yet. The pharmaceutic should be stored at a temperature of 2 to 25 degrees.

The drops should be applied at night on clean eyelids. First, one drop is applied to a clean and sterile applicator, which should be placed horizontally. The drop is distributed evenly over the entire surface of the upper edge of the eyelid in the line where the eyelashes grow. You should pass an applicator along the edge.

Touch the line where you have applied the remedy - it has to be a little damp. Make sure that the drops do not flow beyond the growth of eyelashes. Remove excess fluid to avoid too much moisture in the eyelids. Do not apply the solution to the lower part of the eyelid.

Once you have applied the drops, it is necessary to dispose of the applicator. To avoid infections, do not leave the vial open on any surfaces.

Side Effects

The drops for the eyelash growth may sometimes cause such adverse events as itching, eyelids redness, changing of skin color, dry eyes, pain in the mucous membrane of the eye. If the drops fall accidentally into the eyes, there may be visual impairment, sensations of a foreign matter, "sandpaper" in the eyes. Among other adverse drug reactions, there are:

• Photophobia;
• Allergic conjunctivitis;
• Blepharitis;
• Cataracts.

There are also cases of the drop in the intraocular pressure and migraines.
