When Myambutol is used for the first-line treatment of tuberculosis, the dosage of the antituberculosis makes 15mg per kilogram of bodyweight per day. The patients with recurrent tuberculosis are recommended to take a Myambutol dose of 25mg / kg / day for 8 weeks. Then the daily dose of Myambutol should be reduced to 15mg per kg of bodyweight.
Missed dose
If you have not taken an assigned dosage of Myambutol, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose of the chemotherapeutic agent, do not take Myambutol. Do not make up for missed doses of Myambutol with double dosage.More Information
Myambutol pill can be used alone, but it increases the risk of development of resistant strains of mycobacterium tuberculosis. Therefore, Myambutol is recommended to be taken with one or two antituberculosis compounds.Myambutol Side Effects
Most adverse effects of Myambutol are reversible in long-term treatment of tuberculosis. Common adverse effect of Myambutol is neuritis with decreased visual acuity. Other common adverse effects of Myambutol include: abdominal pain, nausea, indigestion, disorientation, lithaemia, headache, dizziness, eczema, itch, fever, lymphadenitis, arthralgia, anorexia or anaphylaxis
